Hi folks,
I bought this beauty about three years ago and it has always brought a smile to my face. When I was sampling higher-level laminates at the N.C. Ukulele Academy (where purchased), this one not only had the most stunning looks but also the richest sound and projection.
But it poses the same problem I've had with every tenor I've owned: I have trouble with stretches. I'm a soprano/concert only guy apparently.
If this were a soprano or a concert, I'd cherish it forever. But it's not played much at all.
So rather than leave this in the case during the winter or using it as lovely wall art the rest of the year, I'm parting with it.
The uke itself was part of some limited editions Kanile'a produced a few years ago. The top, back, and sides are laminate spalted maple. Each uke had a different salting and grain pattern. This iteration has black binding and a faux tortoise-shell purfling repeated around the sound hole.
It's gorgeous. It has the Kanile'a geared tuners and it's strung linear with Living Water fluorocarbon strings.
I added a strap button on the bottom.
Kent at the Uke Academy set it up perfectly.
The only "flaw" is that I lightly scratched a couple of the plastic pin buttons when I changed strings. They're not damaged but the scratches are there. You might consider a higher-quality pin button next time you do a string change, but these should continue working fine forever.
Asking $150 including shipping in CONUS. If you'd like the hard case (complete with eclectic stickers), then $180 will get you the entire package.
If you like tenors, you'll love this one!
Here's a link to me playing and singing this for one rather horribly for the Seasons of the Ukulele. There are a few links available of better players and sellers making this shine. They'll go in the next post.
Thanks!!
