Nice review. Sounds and looks like a very nice ukulele. I like spruce tops. This sunburst looks great with mahogany. Do you know if Satin is a tad less on price or same? I looked up site and it makes no distinction so assume Satin at same price. I agree seems like good value even when I convert to Canadian dollars for all solid ukulele!

I think it's the same price to be honest.

That's a ludicrous shipping quote - I once shipped a ukulele to the USA - cost about $70....

I thought so, too. On Matt's website (Noah) is listed 4-5 dealers; the one I could get to display prices in US currency was Eaglemusic. I selected the Solid Spruce & Rosewood Soprano, and in the shopping cart all US prices showed. I entered shipping details and a price of $202 came up.

I sent them an email, begging for a review of the shipping costs. They replied that the particular uke wasn't shippable because of the CITES restrictions. My reply was that I might choose another brand, or that they could get exception paperwork from Matt. AND, could they let me know what shipping would be. They replied they didn't want to do that, and didn't answer the shipping $$ question. So, I used a different browse, chose a non-Noah 'ukulele brand that was free of Rosewood. I got a shipping charge of 226.00! Their website says they do international sales, but I don't think their shipping calculators work right!! I got the feeling they just aren't interested in the hassle for a relatively inexpensive instrument.

Interesting. I do like Eagle and they carry some great ukuleles, but I wouldn't say ukulele was their backbone like some other ukulele specialists.

The CITES comment is probably correct and does indeed make it a major hassle to ship rosewood to and from the USA - probably to the point of it not being worth it. But that doesn't explain the shipping cost as you say!

Interesting about Eagle Music - those are crazy shipping prices! I have had a couple of very poor experiences with buying (non-uke) instruments from them in the past so I steer well clear although do occasionally buy strings, etc., from them.

Love that sunburst finish. Baz, it actually looks a different colour in the first photo to ones further down - is that a fair reflection of how it appears in real life or is one picture more true than others? Or, indeed, is my computer screen being weird?

Nah - just that the picture was taken outdoors and there were clouds coming and going!
