Alas my repair failed
I decided to remove the top and replace it. Once the top was removed I could see the cleats did not hit the spot I had hoped. It also appears I did not get good penetration with the hide glue. This was my first attempt with hide glue so I was not surprised.
I have lots to learn, and that is a good thing.
I have some nice pieces of torrefied cedar ready to go.
I cut the fingerboard at the 14th fret and removed it as well.
I will post some pictures for your entertainment!
