Season of the Ukulele 387: Shapes of Things

I have already begun building a homemade uke (which will have 4 strings). I am realizing that finding a shape-title is going to be easier so homemade uke project is more for fun than anything else.
If I manage to make it I will submit a song, no matter how badly the 'instrument' is going to sound
really looking forward to seeing and hearing the uke!

Well, lets keep count, shall we? ONE!
update - TWO ukes bought for the season (and of course cazteclo's build in progress)

arrow-shaped homemade song, on an arrow-shaped uke! "cupid shot an arrow (to my heart)" on my new flying V uke!

Good theme Rick. Difficult to wrap my head around the fact that it hasn’t been done before. Boxes are shapes in both 2D and 3D.

an original song for the season.

WHERE DID I BEGIN

you'll find me there
between the circle and the square
and what I don't plunder
i'm gonna strip bare
like a desert longs for the rain
i'm a mirror, shining
through a dark window pane

you'll find me under
a circle at night
beneath a pale moon
that won't give up its light
like a prisoner, looks for the key
i'm a halo
and you can't see me

like a rhombus
i live on the side
like a drunkard
with nowhere to hide
lay me down, lay me out
lay me down
turn me inside and out
of this shape, that i'm in
o where
did I begin

you'll find me there
between the circle and the square
you'll find me there
between the circle and the square
in this shape, that i'm in
oh where
did I begin

I reckon I have ticked all three boxes with this original entitled "Triangle"...... played on a Tenor Guitar (a close cousin to a baritone ukulele)

Hope you enjoy:

Thanks for continuing to bring great songs, folks. Sorry I'm falling a little behind. Will catch up soon.

Thank you!!

Here you go: a bit of pop!
The Shape Of My Heart, by the Backstreet Boys (not Sting, who has a song by the same name!)
(I never really understood the lyrics of this song. Why would you need to show anyone the shape of your heart… surely it is heart-shaped?)
♥️♥️♥️

This sort of ticks two boxes. We are away in the van in South Wales, so I have a Flea - permanently in the van, to avoid further episodes of "gone away and forgot the uke".
As for the song, the lack of decent WiFi means it has to be something I vaguely know already, so apologies if you have heard it before. I reckon a borderline is a sort of shape, albeit a wiggly one, and one which is often disputed.

Been a great and interesting season Rick! Thanks for hosting! Star in the title of this one. It's a Ryan Adams song called "When the Stars Go Blue" Joined here by Joo Joo on harmony vocals and she also did the artwork and put the video together ~

A lot more people call the shape a diamond than a rhomb, right? So here's some Pink Floyd.

thank you for an inspiring week Rick
with this i think my quota allotted is done

ALL I'VE GOT TO SHOW

i spent 7 days creating the world
the sun moon and stars
and all I've got to show

from your rib i created her
from her womb i created you
and all i've got to show
is a cross

i am a square peg
i am a square peg in this round whole

for 33 years i walked
among you upon this earth
and all i've got to show

i covered your sins in my blood
gave hope when all hope was lost
and all i've got to show
is a cross

you can't turn a circle into a square
you can't buy love when love isn't there
and all i've got to show
all i've got to show

Did you know that singers go onto Sesame Street with (amazing) educational-ish versions of their hit songs?
This is James Blunt’s ‘My Triangle’ - perfect for this week’s theme!

An original about a boxer for ya Rick -"The Night the Square ring caught him"

That Friday night the square ring caught him
To it’s canvas, to it it’s heart
A right cross from “The Colt” Ramirez
Broke the dam apart

Legs turned to spaghetti
Roller coaster eyes
Planets were revolving
In a blood red fighter’s sky

Chorus
There’s not much sound or fury
When a journeyman goes down
No lights in any tunnels
No diamonds in the lost and found

When he woke the world was different
At newspaper words it was strange to look
And why for no good reason
His coffee cup just shook

Commissioner said “we’re sorry Jim
Time to hang those old gloves up”
Dr Roy says” That boy
Has been knocked out once too much.

Chorus

He’s kinda young for the old folk’s home
But he doesn’t mind it there
Meals come like clockwork
And they let him sit and stare

Tonight he is Floyd Patterson
Cleanin’ up Archie Moore
And the shadows that he boxes
Crash heavy to the floor.

Ahoy everybody.
I made a little Uke during the past two days from an old neck and a drawer (see photo)
Uke 1.jpg
After that I ended up doing a 'star' shaped song :D
The song starts a minute into the video so you can skip straight to there unless you want to listen to me ramble.
