Hello everyone,

My name is Jolette. I have recently started playing the uke and I am happy to have found this forum. It looks like a great resource.

I am mostly interested in playing jazz and some pop music from the 60's - 80's. I have experience playing piano a bit and flute.

Any advice for me as a uke newb?

Welcome to the UU Forum, Jollette! My advice to newbies is to enjoy the journey. No matter what your goals might be, we all travel at different speeds and on different paths to get to our destination. Your musical background will be helpful in learning to play the ukulele, but don't forget to cut yourself some slack when you feel yourself getting frustrated. Growth takes time and patience. If you allow yourself to enjoy the process, the time and patience thing will take care of itself.
