That's beautiful, and thanks for the tip about the Facebook Marketplace. I learn something new every day.

What are their fees like? Is PayPal the regular way to pay? The Q&A on FB didn't cover that.

There are no fees. A lot of the stuff that you see are from local sellers so you just meet, have a look and if you like it, buy for cash. You will also find groups that are either set up to sell in specific locations or particular types of goods(e.g. camera gear, musical instruments, etc). Most of these expect cash sales but some will post items. I expect that long distance transactions would be paid for with PayPal.

I wrote to Anuenue and they quickly responded.
It looks like I got most of my description correct. Here is what they said:
Welcome to aNueNue family! This Custom Flame Maple Series was released in 2010. Flame maple is a feature of maple in which the growth of the wood fibers is distorted in an undulating chatoyant pattern, producing wavy lines known as "flames".

Congratulations on a beautiful instrument. Flamed maple is fabulous on guitars and has made its way into ukuleles more and more over the years. You done did good my friend.

The only question that remains unanswered is will you actually hand it over to your wife.......that will be hard

Thanks Dave. Yes I’m quite chuffed that I was able to find such a nice instrument for such a small price.
Also I will definitely give it to my wife as I find it difficult to play a Soprano with my clumsy hands. Although I may “borrow” it to try some Campanella style pieces as this is the only re-entrant tuned Uke in the house.

What a beauty. I had an aNueNue solid mahogany soprano of perhaps similar vintage and it was a delight. Someone here in UU is enjoying it now. And I really liked the Orca strings on it. I've never played a maple uke, but have heard only good about it.
