New Used Uke Day: NUUD

A new-to-me, used Phil Davidson Lacewood baritone (circa 2011) arrived from the UK today. I am very pleased.

The sound is stellar! Very open, very even, clear and warm, great bass, crystal trebles...everything one would wish for in tone! Great feel and playability as well, very light weight. 35mm width nut and scale length is 19.5 inches. I'm becoming a fan of 19.5" baritones. Nicely made, with some playing hours on it. The lacquer finish has held up very well.

She's a looker, too. I'm surprised we haven't much posted about Phil Davidson's ukes. His work is very impressive. But I guess Phil may be more well known for his other instruments (banjo, mandolin, guitar, etc.).

Also had a great experience purchasing it from Matt at theukeroom.com

Here's a few pics and a sound sample with the unknown age and brand of strings it came with.

From the UK, eh? Well, that's just lovely jubbly and crufty. (Just learned those two words today)

Man, I was hoping to pop over to the Uke Room and try this one out! Not with a view to buying, just because it looks so nice. Glad it's gone to a good home!

Double wow!! That is one beautiful baritone. Nice purchase.
