Is this Martin Koa or Mahogany?

Yes this Series 2 Martin was bought off eBay - turned out nice. Cleaned it up today and looks better now. Has some slight curving on the face - but have learnt this is not that bad a thing.

Sounds and plays nice. But then so does the modern S1 Martin (in comparison to the 50's is not all that bad).

It does have a slight sheen to the finish - were the two's gloss or were they originally matt?

Other than the (T,C)1k series from the Mexican workshop, did Martin ever use koa?

Yes historically they had a K version of the 2,3, and 5 series models for much of the 20s and 30s.
