I’ve owned two Republic guitars. Republic gets their instruments from China, they are probably made on the same line as the cheap brands like Johnson. Republic instruments have much better quality control than the others on the market. When the instruments arrive at Republic, they are re-checked and setup.
While a Republic uke will not be equal to National, it will sound better than all the other inexpensive resonator ukuleles.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I've own a National and Don Mo. It's not a National, but for my skill level and ear, couldn't justify having so much coined tied up in it. The Mo had mojo and sounded pretty good, but couldn't get comfortable with the smaller neck.
The Republic fit my wallet and ear needs just fine. The finish details are nice on it. All joints are tight, no sharp frets, everything nice and tight and straight.
It just time downsize.

That's a beauty
