Hi everyone!

I have written a song and need to write down the chords with the lyrics for my band. I looked up the chords but then it doesn't match when my friends play those chords. Can you please help me?

I have a tenor Ukulele strung in Low G

I believe the first chord is a A#

1st 2nd 3rd 4th
==========
_X___X_______
________X____
___________X_
_____________
_____________

Second chord: (bar on 5th fret)

1st 2nd 3rd 4th
==========
_____________
_____________
_____________
_____________
_X__X__X___X_ 5th fret

third chord: (Bar on 3rd fret)

1st 2nd 3rd 4th
==========
_____________
_____________
_X__X__X__X__
_____________
_____________

So I thought the first chord is a A#
The second is a F6
the third is a C#6

But when I write that and the guys try to play that, it doesn't work...
my friends play bass and sax

Can anyone help me?

Also what key is this in??

Thank you so much!!!!

looks like you're in the key of Bb so
barre on the 3rd fret could be a kind of Eb
and a barre on the 5th fret could be a kind of F or F7.

a common progression in the key of Bb would be:
Bb, Gm, Eb, F7. this would correspond to C, Am, F, G7 in the key of C :)

keep uke'in',

Bar on 3rd fret is either Eb6 or Cm7. On fifth this is one whole note higher so either F6 or Dm7. Both would go for a key of Bb. Would be more guitar friendly if if his was one note higher, i.e. play a plain old C and then bar on 5th and 7th fret.

Yes, those bar chords could either be a major 6th or a minor 7th, so it kinda depends on how the melody goes and if you want a minor sound there or major. For the bar 5, if it is major you want the bass to play an F. If it is minor, you want the bass to play a D.

It looks to me like Bb, Dm7, Cm7. Followed by a G7, it would be a common turn-around with two beats on each chord. You could add a passing chord C#m7 (barre on 4th fret) to replace the second beat of Dm7.

While a 5th fret barre could be called F6 and the 3rd fret could be an Eb6, in this progression I'd call them both minor sevenths.

You are probably playing in the key of Bb.
