Agreed.
I assumed that (in modern times) this lacework(?) would be machine produced, but I can see that it is not an insert but an integral feature of the soundboard.
Kudos to you, Jo …. the skill, care and patience to do this type of work is commendable.
 
Beautiful work Jo, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the history of this instrument.I am fascinated by the gut string frets and would love to see one in person and feel one with my own hands. Someday!

Yes I cut my carved rosettes by hand with skalpels.
