Thread: 20's "Neptune" banjo ukulele brought back to life.

Default 20's "Neptune" banjo ukulele brought back to life.

I haven't posted in a very long time but thought maybe someone might enjoy seeing this ukulele. Made in Chicago in the 20's.

I bought it for $10 from an online ad. Below are before and after pics. Work included removing resonator (back), fixing cracks and reinstalling (someone had previously horribly re-glued it crooked and off center). Remove and re-glue/re-screw neck. Fret dress, new custom made bridge, overall cleaning, repaint of the sound ring, and finally strung it up and it plays beautifully.

    My first banjo ukulele.

Nice to see that the vellum is still fine - this is the part that usually suffers first.

The headstock and especially the resonator plate with its oddly positioned f-holes point to Harmony, Chicago, ca. 1925. See this post by Jake Wildwood of a similar instrument
