I suppose that this is a really dumb question, but how does one determine the measure of slope on a radiused fretboard?

The radius degree on my Cocobolo Ukulele is perfect, but I don't know what its measurement is.
I want to be able to tell my next builder which slope I want.

Thanks.

Stew-Mac has gauges to measure the radius of a fretboard but it is pretty easy to make your own. Drill some small holes in a strip of metal the appropriate distances apart and us that to mark the edges of a 2.5” square of thin metal or wood and sand carefully to shape. With one square you can have edges of 7”, 9”, 12” and 16”.

Thanks, Brad, but I'm a real dummy about this stuff, and I have no idea what you mean???

Maybe this will help.

Brad, yes it does!
I would imagine every luthier should have one, correct?

A good shop should have a complete set and will be able to tell you your fretboard radius in seconds.

I'm almost positive Cocobolo uses a 12" radius
