2A942E2F-F4E5-4DBF-9977-40FEC58ACD5E.jpgI saw a beautiful tear drop ukulele being posted by David from cripple creek and I was smitten. I asked him to build one with a different set of woods and a stauffer head stock. We settled on torrefied Adirondack with Spanish cedar and herringbone trim.
It looks amazing and sounds even better!!

Ooh, sweet! Looking forward to hearing it. :shaka:

Wow congrats on a beauty - looking forward to the sound sample. :)

Nice. I literally just got an email from David that my teardrop is in the works now. I'm going to post a thread about it with WIP pics and details about what I asked for later today.

That's a really cool looking uke.
It's also one of those that people not in the know wouldn't even think was a uke. It'd be one of those "What is that? mandolin maybe?" kinda things I think. I actually like that. Unique.

Looks like .......... a pineapple!!

It's a teardrop uke. I believe inspired by the old Favilla teardrops.

Can we have a sound sample? :D

I know he's got a sound sample of the previous one he made on the website, but I would love to hear yours.

Very cool. I'm looking forward to hearing how it sounds.
Does it have a bigger sound with that shape body?

Thank you for your patience
here it is: https://soundcloud.com/user-976857705/cripple-creek-torrefied-spruce
My hands were cold and it is rushed but it shows how well the uke performs up and down the neck and the amazing dynamic range (I play hard towards the end). The bigger body makes the sound a lot bigger.
I will upload a similar sound sample of a vintage for comparison.

update: here is a sample from a vintage 1k soprano from 1920s
