Well, here it is ... and not a pea in sight! Please watch the vid (which is EXCEEDINGLY short). If you have trouble finding suitable songs, then I can provide some links ... but there really ARE a lot of songs which meet the requirements. I will put up the Playlist when the entries start to come in (and when I can remember how to do it.) Meanwhile, you still have the right to reply to Berni in his splendid Season for more than another day.

Great theme Val, and love the buskers gloves....they look very...er, can I say handy or have you had your fill of my, frankly rubbish, puns for now? :(

Thanks for the handsome theme Val.
Here's a traditional song.Goes by different names. Gospel Plow probably the most common.I can hear the melody influencing some other songs...a Gillian Welch one in particular.

I think I may have done this before.
I thought I was going to be first, but my tablet took ages to render the video and ginga beat me to it.
New venue, no blue doors in the new house, and I haven't settled on a location for videos yet.

This is a quick original I thought of a couple of hours ago, in memory of Randy.

Lyrics:

I’ve always been someone who
Misses everybody when they go on their way
Some move on, others are called away
In ways unforeseen, unplanned
I keep their memory close at hand

There was a time when
Just ‘bout everybody lived their life in one place
Went their whole life seeing the same face
Now I know people in different lands
I may never get to shake their hands
But they’re still close at hand

I try to understand, I
Know that everybody has their own hills to climb
They’ve got their tasks and I’ve got mine
And if responsibilities should pull me away
Know there’s part of me that always stays
Stays somewhere close at hand

Well, you may just be getting up in Australia, and only in the early evening in the States, but here in deepest France it is bedtime. Very many thanks to all today's contributors ... your handiwork was much appreciated!

I leave you with this encouraging thought, remember ... "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

This is a Richard Thompson song.

We're predicted to get about 14 inches (35 cm) of snow by Tuesday morning. I probably have to go out and use the snowblower around 10 PM tonight, because it will turn to rain for a while overnight and get too heavy to move.

thank you for this week Val
an original song for the season

HANDS

if my hands were made for building,
they'd build a home for us to dwell
& if my hands were made for poetry,
the longing magic they would spell

& if my hands were only flesh, dear,
without the blood & soul & bone,
you could mould me into anything,
anything you want

but my hands are bent & broken,
lacing up a worn-out shoe
but if my hands were made for anything
they were made to hold you

if my hands they were a lighthouse,
they would guide you into shore
if they could only undo dreams, dear;
the hope that we longed for

but my hands are bent & broken,
lacing up a worn-out shoe
but if my hands were made for anything
they were made to hold you

love it fades just like the sunset
& rises on an endless moon
but if my hands were made for anything
they were made to hold you

if my hands were made for anything
they were made to hold you
