We made it back from two weeks Hawaii and it was an excellent trip. This was our sixth visit to Oahu, and our focus was definitely on sun, beach, and ocean, but I also had a chance to sneak in a bunch of ukulele-related activities.The musical highlights include:
- met Uncle Rod and the lei ladies at Ala Moana;
- attended four Kanikapila at da Racks;
- attended six hula performances at the Kuhio mound;
- attended performances by uke virtuosos Taimane Gardner and Kapono Wong;
- attended KoAloha and Kanile'a factory tours;
- went to several uke stores including the HMS Kaka'ako store (where apparently we met UU member Hawaii50), Ukulele Store on Waikiki Beach Walk, the two Ukulele PuaPua stores in the Sheratons, Ukulele House in the Hyatt Regency, and Goodguys Music & Sound; and
- bought my very first "budget" laminate uke.
