What’s the url

Couldn't find a short URL address. It doesn't come up when I clicked on "Auction" on their site. Maybe because I hadn't signed in?

Moore-bettah-ulu-lama-tenor-1915-laka-goddess-of-hula.

We'll see if this works. Nope, thinks it's spam. Do a search on the HMS' www.theukulelesite.com for the above.

Use JoyfulUke's link. It works.

It worked for me. The bidding is up to 11,500 now. Geezus.

Issue of the "Auction" button not leading to the page to bid. Not sure how to navigate there within the site (not starting from here) or without doing a search.

Wow. Think how many amazing ukuleles you could buy for that.

It's out of my league, and I don't play tenor, but I really like the woods, and and it's fun to watch the auctions.
Good luck to those of you bidding. It is a very special ukulele, for sure.

Congratulations to Miloman! The final bit is $12100. Hope you enjoy this beautiful instrument.

Hmmm, lets see -

KANILE'A CEDAR TOP GRANADILLO TENOR $2,500.00

KAMAKA DELUXE KOA TENOR $2,495.00

BLACKBIRD "FARALLON" EKOA TENOR $1,862.00

KO'OLAU CS-O CEDAR TOP KOA TENOR $4,500.00

PONO PRO CLASSIC ACACIA TENOR $959.00

= £12,316

or

This for £12,100

Really?

Yup! You will find other ukes from these manufacturers/builders that look and sound the same.. there will not be another uke like the one that got auctioned.. also, that uke is not just a piece of amazing art with deep cultural reference but also an amazing musical instruments built from wood combinations that is not common. I am surprised that it did not go higher.. I guess the uke market has cooled down..

*glances briefly at the upright bass b/s/t forum he checks...
**laughs

12k for a truly one-of-a-kind instrument (which looks like THAT) built by one of the world's pre-eminent specialist luthiers is perfectly reasonable.
(reasonable ≠ universally attainable.)

I suppose we have all drunk from the ukulele kool aid to some extent otherwise we wouldn't be on this forum but let's retain a little sanity. What to some can look like 'amazing art' to others looks like a sneeze on a piece of wood. I also wonder sometimes if people see the price tag first and only then claim a maker to be 'pre-eminent' they way they do with silly cars and designer furniture - 'well it must be good if it costs that much'. If these were $1000 I think the reverence would be entirely absent.
