Season 411: Missed Opportunities, Second Chances, and Do-Overs

thank you for this week Rick
and best wishes to you brother from both Kevin and me
this song references season 376 which was about collaborations;
a Jackson Browne song we both love very much

Auld Lang syne for tabla, rabab, and didgeridoo.
Expand to full screen and play along cos the tablature is there.

Heres one I planned to do last week but illness and socialising laid me low.

It's from the Netfkix series The Witcher, released earlier this month, so counts as a year ending in 9. It's presented in the show as a bard writing a song as he plays it recounting the tale of when he first met the titular Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter. Wont give anything else away other than it's a very catchy song and has turned into what could be the final meme of the 2010s.

I missed a few seasons at the end of 2019. My wife collapsed at the end of September and ended up in hospital for a few days. Her recovery has been quite slow but she's much better now.

This would have fitted Season 405 as it was one of the songs played in the Lipstick on your Collar TV series. I didn't actually watch any of those series though they got good reviews. Anyway, something from Hank Williams. The BBC has been showing a series on Country Music and Hank Williams featured in one of the early episodes. The director is well known but his name has slipped my mind just now. (One of the frustrations of getting old, memory lapses)

I might have tried this tune on my hot-mess of a Season 393. I am not the most organized person, but that week was a challenge for me: I was surprised to get a new part-time job that week and the season started spinning a bit out of my control. I was very pleased that Brother John brought this tune to the table that week. Thanks to everyone who posted songs that week and every week of 2019. Happy New Year to you all.

Hello, Rick! I think I intended to do this one for my British season, but it would have fitted equally well with Joko's gender-bending season, as it was originally performed by a male impersonator, i.e. a woman dressed up as a man. (There were several woman in British music hall who specialised in these roles ... did they ever occur in the U.S.?)

A very Happy New Year to you all! (And a very Happy Birthday to Lynda ... although I am confused now as to whether it is today or was yesterday.)

Hi friends!

A little more than two days in, and we've had some wonderful contributions. Please keep them coming, and Happy New Year if you're about to celebrate (or already have)!

Have a great new uking year! We want to show you our band today, yes we are four now!
"Moondance" is a song by Van Morrison and is the title song on his third studio album Moondance (1970). Morrison did not release the song as a single until November 1977, seven and a half years after the album was released. I guess it fits a lot of seasons (one name songs or song for the seventies)

I don't remember exactly which season I was going to do this one for. It could have been 369 (songs from 1975-79), 386 (songs from the 70s), or 389 (songs about dreams).

here is donnalele's gorgeous abba cover, embedded for your viewing and listening pleasure

comments are disabled on that vid, so let me take the opportunity here to say, that was really lovely!

geoff, so glad your wife is doing better. wishing you both a happy and healthy 2020

And a very Happy Birthday to Lynda ... although I am confused now as to whether it is today or was yesterday.
thank you val! it was monday - but i like to have a birthday week (or two................ or fifty-two!)

ok, here is another season 394-y, electric uke-y homemade song - thanks so much, rick, for giving us all a chance to go back and fix season-y things we might have missed!

Happy New Year cobbers. Here's one for Ryan's Australian season. Also fits Rick's theme as it is about a bloke getting a second chance.Video footage is from around Orange, central west NSW. Spent a couple of days there after Xmas. No fires there at the time..bit smoky, like everywhere in the state at the moment- either fire or smoke.
Tenor uke with some acoustic guitar added.

Stopping by to say Happy New Year Everybody!! This is my favorite New Years song. I've actually sung it once before for some long ago Season. It was written in 1958 but made popular by the McGuire Sisters in 1959. So I hope it works as another entry into last weeks season. May your wildest dreams come true!

Yeah, well I made exactly four videos in 2019. I missed quite a few seasons in what will be known in my life as the “year from hell”. I’m glad to put it behind me.

One of the worst of 2019 was losing Randy, our sweet Harry, our solid citizen. I wanted to record this tune for his Season, but that happened right about the time of my worst travails, and I didn’t get around to it.

Randy and I shared a deep passion for at least three themes: the Beatles, Frank Zappa, and Workers’ Rights. We were both big Union guys.

Thanks for hosting the season, Rick; I’m grateful for the opportunity for a “second chance” to post this for Randy. I’m just really sad that he’s not around to enjoy it.
