Your instruments are really beautiful. After seeing this, I searched for information on lute construction and went down that rabbit hole a bit. Constructing the bowl looks really interesting. Now I kind of want to build a lute-inspired instrument, but maybe make it so it can be tuned like a uke so playing it wouldn't be totally different.

Well Jo is the expert when it comes to bowl back instruments and I don't want too hijack her thread. I really like to see what shes making and think the carved rosettes are great.

I made just one uke with a bowl back a few years ago. Here's the thread:

It doesnt get played much mainly because I have so many instruments. I should warn you that bowl back instrument like to slide off your lap-a non slip square is required.
