Hi there,
I'm glad I found this forum, because I'm facing a problem I can't solve and thus need help with.
Inside my Kala Ukulele a small nut, that's meant to tighten the jack socket, has come loose, and since I don't have the hands of an infant, I don't know how to reach in there to tighten it again.
Please have a look at the attached image.

Do any of you have an idea how to tighten it again? I hope I won't need any specialised tool, that costs an arm and a leg!

I'm looking forward to your replies :)
Thanks guys, great being here! :)

Probably going to be easiest to completely remove the jack and fish it to the soundhole to tighten the nut by hand. You might have to pull the jack further out of the uke to undo the outer screw (it should move that way since the nut is completely off the inside).

That's what I'd try at least. Good luck! It can be a real PITA.

Yup, remove it. The purpose of the inside nut is to allow for different thickness of wood, so that you end up with the proper number of threads exposed on the outside of the uke. Any tightening is done from the outside by tightening the outside nut, not the inside one. Just follow one of the suggested techniques using a straw or dowel or string to guide the jack back into place from the sound hole. If you want to be really sure it doesn't happen again you could add some blue LockTite on the inside threads once you have the inside nut where it needs to be.

Remember when tightening the outside nut to be sure to not allow the jack to rotate, which would quickly rip out the wires. There is usually a small hole in the side of the tip of the jack to allow you to insert a nail head to keep the jack from rotating when you tighten down the outside nut.

Hey, makes total sense to remove the jack, I never thought of that!
Seems like once the nut is tightened I should indeed lock it down with a drop of glue, so it wouldn't do it again!

Thanks guys!!
