Anyone know why Kanile'a puts a position marker on the 9th instead of the 10th fret?

Kala and Pono both use 10th-fret markers, and 10th-fret markers seem the most useful to me.

Is there a reason the 9th-fret marker might be helpful?

EDITED to say I just noticed they only do this on their baritones. Tenors have the 10th-fret marker. I guess maybe they're trying to mark the baritones more like guitars, which usually have the 9th-fret marker.

Thanks!

Guitars seem to be the only instruments that have the 9th fret marker. Banjos, mandolins, tiples, ukuleles. . . all have a tenth fret marker. I bought a banjolele with a twisted neck and had a luthier make me a new neck. Being a guitar player, he put the dots on the 9th fret.

9th actually is more natural to me , but then i'm a guitar player in the main.

Marker positions vary and really once you know what they are on the instrument you are playing, it doesn't matter much when you know.
