I know, it's a guitar, but I think this is so cool. A member of my church band turned me on to this young man last Sunday. Some of you may have seen or heard him before, but I don't think he's been mentioned on UU before. Kent Nishimura. He plays the rhythm, melody, bass, and percussion lines of a song all at once on his guitar.....no looper, no effects. Just him. Awesome.

I've seen several duets with Jake and Tommy Emmanuel. A Jake & Kent Nishimura duet would be amazing.

Sorry about the Youtube ads ......Gave him a listen

Oh, hardly blasphemy, we do have a Guitar Discussion board here on UU and I think a lot of us have them hiding somewhere in our homes. :p

If you like that, check out the playing of Stanley Jordan

And some of us (like me) play them more than ukuleles. Never been a fan of the 'my instrument is better than yours' mindset.

I love both guitar and uke. I'm not a virtuoso on either, but that's OK. I find performances like this inspiring. Evan de Silva on the uke is another inspiring young master.

Thanks for posting about Evan. He’s great. So many wonderful young uke and guitar artists to admire. I’ll admit though, that I will always love Tommy Emmanuel. I could listen to his smooth style forever.

I owned an acoustic guitar when I was 13. My best friend was a good player and she was going to teach me to play. Unfortunately, her family moved away and I gave up the guitar. I did take some lessons, but it wasn’t the same without my friend to guide me. She actually went on to have a professional music career, and I was bummed that we never got to play guitar together as kids. That memory makes my new found love of the ukulele and making music all the more special.

Glad you have found an outlet for your love of music. And you're right . . . . Tommy is amazing. If you haven't seen it, look up his YouTube video for "Deep River Blues".

I love all of Tommy’s performances, but two favs are Smokey Mountain Lullaby and Rachel’s Lullaby. He does a duet with Jake on Rachel’s Lullaby. I think Corey does a version of Smokey Mountain Lullaby on the HMS website.

That was awesome. Thanks for sharing, Raftergirl!

I just found Lorenzo Polidori last night while hunting for guitar tabs for Windy and Warm. Lorenzo plays a lot of Tommy Emmanuel and Chet Atkins and others and is generous in sharing tabs on his website. Granted most of the tabs are too difficult for me but I may try a couple.
Here he is:

His tabs with videos can be found here:

Corey also has Tommy Emmanuel's "The Mystery" tabs at The Ukulele site and "Still can't say Goodbye" which is a Chet Atkins song that he gave to Tommy to perpetuate
