Season 417: original favourite country shorts

day seven shall henceforth be known as Guy Clark day
rob w/ two excellent hits on GC...especially 'Desperados'. brilliant
BJ w/ a romping fun version of 'Baby Took A Limo'
kelly w/ a sensitive and utterly lovely instrumental take on a true classic
john w/ a soulful swipe at GC's 'She Aint Goin Nowhere'
alan w/ one of the standout original songs of the week
and sean bringing it home w/ a terrific and tender version of SE's 'Goodbye'
thank you guys.
last day tomorrow; our train departs for season 418 tomorrow night...

Thanks for the good time Jon-o. Great theme and lots of great entries. Had some fun here in the Dale for sure

Here's a song.

hey my brother.
this is just great Sean, the spontaneity of it, hearing you like you were next to me in the loungeroom,
the invasion of the family. it's beautiful man.
the settings though - I wasn't able to comment nor add it to the playlist thingy mate -
if you feel to change em so I can, please do. if not, k, that's cool too.
just want you to know i' listened, that I loved it & how much appreciate you making time to play me sump'n.

Thanks for letting me know. YT must have changed the way you upload stuff. Whatever. Anyway, I think I got it right this time. Cheers. Always good to see you hosting.

another John Darnielle song. This one is called 1 John 4:16

One more from the Two Little Woodpeckers.
A Richard Buckner song we both love.

day eight was great.
everyone ran faster to 418 than a Chinese dude from Wuhan, but we had three gems to add to the collection:
casey w/ a gorgeous take on SE's 'God is God' (awesome to hear you again sis)
joo w/ a killer song from the MGs, The Life of the World to Come'
and those ol' woodpeckers w/ a heartbreaker from RB's 2000 rekkid, The Hill.
thank you all. this week has been a joy to me.
standby for a wrap coming sooner than an orange sunrise...

Looks like I might be the last video for this season. This one is a short original. I wrote a small major progression but after writing the lyrics realized it was a better match for a minor key.

stop! press! fox! no!
a final ripper here from
kelly w/ a wrecker short original that, given some of the themes and subject matter
we've delved into this week...
can't think of a better way to end the season
thanks brother.

over the years i've run many seasons
but this has been the best week of music i've ever hosted
i'm very grateful everyone
there was not one entry i didn't enjoy and judging is like choosing between your favorite kids
that said, judge i will

Kelly and Ryan, many thanks fells. glad you enjoyed the week.

Jon, your a s** host. I played every damn song on bluebird and you heard none of them. I would go into how that affected me...but naw. Thanks for nothing here. Just wish I could still play.

hey mate.
you obviously don't remember the season so well.
if you did you would recall how into every song you played i was,
and commented as such at the time. we even talked about them elsewhere.
as i mentioned yesterday to you, i since changed my channel and which
is obviously the reason my comments aren't showing up on yours.
in my wrap i gave you a big shout out b/c i loved everything you did mate.
your music was a highlight of the season and i'm disappointed you have forgotten so quickly.
there has never been a week i have hosted where i have not listened closely and
responded to every single song shared.
eh, i got no problem being called out when i deserve to be, God knows i have ****ed
up everywhere countless times, but you're just plain wrong here Dave.

Only comments I see on my videos are from one of my seventh graders...bored out of his head I am sure. That was great, but really no one else chimed in. Not even the host and as I see it, it is your job to tell us we are great even when we suck. So...I played one of your favorite records entirely, you had nothing to say about it...I am gone. Thanks for the laughs and the fun, and whatever this is. Feels like **** off you ain’t any good. I can live with that.

As for in thread remarks on my stuff...just means you didn’t watch it. None of it. Comment on YouTube if you want to at least convince me. Really though- I cant put that totally on you. No one watched it and Inguess I can live with that as well. Wanna buy an ukulele?

the fact you can't remember the week we shared.
these posts you've made here break my heart Lefty.
hope you're ok Dave.

you could always reply to me privately on FB
if and when you feel like it
more than happy to thrash this out w/ expletives as necessary mate
