Would like some recommendations for an all solid Cedar top concert uke plus solid wood back.....no laminate. Already know about Ohanas but would like some other great recommendations. Thanks.

HMS has a nice looking Kala, solid cedar top, solid Pau Fero body concert for $299. I think they also have a cedar top Kanile’a if your budget is bigger.

I can't believe that Kanile'a is still available. It's stunning.

Mim has a Cedar top Ohta-San which is another dream instrument

I had two almost identical tenors - a Pono cedar/something and a Kala cedar/acacia. I realized that I didn't need two almost identical ukes, so I examined and listened to each. Without a doubt, I preferred the sound of the Kala, which cost under $300 new. So, I sold the Pono.

Some months later, I wanted to cut back on what I had, so I sold then Kala to a friend. I regretted it almost immediately, and I bought another. Since that time, I have bought identical 6-string and 8-string Kalas. So, making a recommendation is easy for me: Concert Kala KA-ACP-CTG. It's very easy to find a new one ($270). The tenor costs just $10 more.

I second Baz's recommendation of the Mainland Cedar/Rosewood ukes. That Kala KA-ACP-CTG is SO pretty, but I've never played any Kala's before. What kind of budget are you working with? What size are you looking for?

Saw this all solid Kala Solid Cedar Pau Ferro Concert Ukulele . Anyone have any comments about it sound wise, etc?

Did you listen to the sound sample on HMS? Sounds really sweet. If you want to go with a solid cedar top/laminate back & sides, then the Kala ACP-CTG is another good choice. I bought the tenor version for my nephew, and a few folks in my main uke group play that one as well.

That Kala KA-ACP-CTG is amazing in sound and looks, not solid body, just the cedar soundboard is solid, still it's one of my favorite ones.

Yes I did listen to it on HMS and found it sweet and rich, warm. That is why I became more interested in it because it was all solid woods and no laminates. Though I do have to say that Kala ACP-CTG also has a nice sound.

Might peek at the Kremona Coco. It's made in sporano, concert and tenor sizes, sports a solid cedar top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides. I have a Coco tenor and it has a lovely full voice and buckets of volume (almost too loud for ensemble playing). Ain't cheap but state side it sells for about $600.

The Kala ACP cedar top is really just a great piece and becoming a bit of a legend. Really a Big Bang for your buck; souyndwise gives the big boys a run.

I second this recommendation. I have the concert Coco and absolutely love it. And might I suggest UkeLogic strings for your cedar top, you won't be disappointed.
