Use only lacquer formulated for guitars - Cardinal being the one available in the UK. Do not trust what other companies say about their lacquer - it always cracks.... within a year. There is a reason most of us use lacquer that is formulated for our industry. The only other lacquer would be that formulated for cars where the finish is designed to cope with the expansion and contraction of large surface areas.
