I've never seen a black Flea, but there's one on eBay in person. It seems to have a large body and a short neck, but that's probably just the photography. I'm not a fan of soprano Magic Fluke instruments.

The "Lava" - the black Flea sold by Magic Fluke - has a black headstock. I don't care for the black/natural look on the one on eBay. The Magic Fluke version doesn't even have fret markers unless requested - all black!

That would be an interesting project - make a Flea or Fluke all one color. It could be red with Aquila Red strings. Imagine a high gloss red Flea/Fluke. :)

Looks like the ebay one started life as a regular flea and then they spray painted it. You can see the over spray on the inner label.

So do I!

I have no photo to share, but mine looks just like yours. I've had it for about 7 years now and is currently my only uke, and I am not interested in any other since I've always been so happy with it :)

@ Jerry, the black, aka "LAVA" version with the natural wood left visible on the neck and head-stock has been made since the beginning, but the "all black" or "blackout" version was a new thing from ca. 2015 or so.

My only uke currently, too! Great minds! :)

Well that's interesting. It's a black Flea, but not a Lave - all black. or it's an earlier version of the Lava?

Correct, not all black. The back of the neck is light, too.

It’s relatively new (in ownership + I believe production): purchased within the last 6 months from GryphonStrings + made in MA, not CT.

I love my black Flea. Actually took this pic today.

Didn't Sell

I see that black Flea didn't sell. It's too bad he started so high. I always start at $0.99, and I haven't been disappointed yet. If it isn't worth $199, people won't pay it. Starting at a low price lets people bid it up.
