Ah, did you miss the bit last week where Norton's Star Atlas was found not by one, but by two people, to settle a debate about the names of some stars.

No I went to have my bath, sorry I missed that!

The debate was about whether the Pleiades were in Orion or Taurus. Chris said they were in Taurus, and he was right. I was wrong. For some reason, I have always thought they were that cluster of stars in Orion's sword.

Hello gang - nice to see you all again last night.

This is Cliff Edwards playing his cuatro tuning, with both low G and low A.

another one:

This is the Dread Zeppelin reggae version, with one of the singers being an Elvis impersonator.

The cigar box I mentioned at Saturday's Open Mic session has arrived, and now has pride of place on display in my living room:

I think I'll call him "Kryten", after the android from Red Dwarf. He looks a bit more like Marvin (from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), but that's my Roomba's name. Yes I am the sort of person who names inanimate objects...

I'll see if I can post a video later on. The intonation is a little off (action at the nut is very high) but I reckon that should be fixable - it seemed fine with a capo. And I did mostly buy it as art anyway.

What a beauty! I love the hardware on the corners. I'm looking forward to hearing how it sounds!

Here's a quick sample. I should probably have picked something less complicated - it seems I need a bit more target practice on this one - but the Red Dwarf theme seemed an appropriate choice.

It's pretty quiet acoustically, as you'd probably expect, but there's a pickup so this is what it sounds like plugged in. Otherwise, no effects. Tuned down a half step and with a capo on the first fret, otherwise the action is way too high.
