Cool NGD: Jupiter Ukuleles #71: POC/Tamarind Guitalele "Smoke and Fire"

Here's the build thread on this one: https://forum.ukuleleunderground.com...upiter-Ukulele

    Here's the final spec rundown:
    Tenor size body, 17" scale
    Top: Port Orford cedar "smoke"
    Back&sides: spalted tamarind "fire"
    Side port
    Rosette: Abalone shell
    Fretboard: Richlite with 12" radius
Head plate: Richlite with Jupiter inlay
    Nut: Corian, with zero fret
Narrow nut and string spacing, ~1.75" nut, ~1.5" string spacing
    Open geared tuners
    Bridge: Richlite, string through
    Compensated saddle
A-to-A tuning with Romero UG1 strings
    Binding: bog oak
    Purfling: black/white diagonal
    MiSi pickup

This is my second Jupiter. You can read about the first here: https://forum.ukuleleunderground.com...Custom-Guilele

As far as looks, sound, and playability, I could just copy/paste from that review. Absolutely immaculate build, full/resonant sound, sustain "for days", excellent setup.

Most folks would say the string spacing is incredibly narrow, but I like it. It is ever so slightly narrower than #47. Commercial options would probably call this a 46mm nut. I think Jon was hesitant and had to ask twice that's what I really wanted, but he nailed it.

I'm going to let the strings settle a few days before I make much more comment about them, but so far, so good. I think the wound basses are going to end up a little noisier than the T-I set. The fluorocarbon trebles are a little thinner than the nylons, maybe a little brighter. I suspect I'll try a hybrid set at some point, but this is a great starting point.

As I said last time, Jon was great to work with, and I recommend him without hesitation.
