I saw in another post that you're looking around to buy your first uke. I strongly recommend you to spend some time on Barry Maz's site: gotaukulele.com
Check out the reviews. It doesn't matter which prices you can afford. Just pick a couple of brands and models, both with high scores and bad ones. You'll know what to check and what to listen out for when you finally get to play them yourself. Take a tuner with you, or ask the staff to lend you one. Have them play the instrument you want to buy.
