This is a bit of a long shot, but here goes...
I am thinking about purchasing a contact microphone to use in conjunction with a Schertler Unico Deluxe. I don't have any experience with this type of pickup, so I'm asking for advice.
This mic would be used to amplify a couple of high-end ukuleles to cover reasonably quiet small- to medium-sized venues. Possible performance settings include primarily acoustic solo, duo, and trio ensembles.
My primary criteria are a fast transient response and wide dynamic range. Secondary goals include articulate warmth, tonal clarity, and ambient noise rejection. In short, I am seeking a sound that’s useful for “serious” music. I am well aware that transparent reproduction is an unreasonable ask at this price point and convenience level.
With these parameters in mind, I've narrowed the field to the following options:
