I found a piece of old redwood fence (75+years old), and planed and joined it for a top. However there is a fine oxidation line on the seam.. Question: Is that o.k.? or should I separate and remove the oxidation area and rejoin it with a seamless appearance?

I've band sawed the join in half, re squared up the edges and re glued with nary a tell.

I think it gives it a little character.

Have you sanded it down?... Visable seams don't bother some people so it is up to you whether you give it another go. Personally they bug me and I would do what resoman says and saw her in half and square up but again, it is up to you.

Good to know but too late.. (there was no creep though)
