After seeing some posts here about ukes made from tennis rackets, I thought I'd give it a try.

I bought uke wood from StewMac, and I cut one side piece down the center, giving me two sides about 2" wide. I managed to get a pretty good bend in both sides, finally resorting to a home-made hot pipe.

What I have to do now is cut each piece so they fit together, end to end, inside the racket. I think I'll have to taper the cuts slightly so they fit together neatly in the slightly curved racket. I'll be using end blocks inside the ukes to hold the ends together.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I cut end blocks with the curve of the ends of the racket. Unlike a regular uke, I'll have to make sure the sides are an exact fit inside the racket. I'll cut them on the large side and sand down the ends bit by bit.

Writing it out like this helps me get it straight in my mind. : )
