I know there's a name for those sliced strips of wood that hold the top and bottom to the sides. I don't need the name, but I would like some advice about the dimensions of those strips - width, height, distance between them, and depth of cut. I've been experimenting, but I'd like some valid dimensions before I waste any more time and wood (solid pine).

I think you are talking about linings? I buy mine (basswood kerfed) and the dimensions are:

15-1/2" x 7/32" x 3/8"
(393.70mm x 5.56mm x 9.52mm)

They are called linings or kerflings if you use a band saw or table saw to cut slots in them to make them bendy. Good dimensions for ukulele would be 3/8” high, 1/4” thick with about 1/4” to 3/16” between cuts depending on how thick your saw blade is and how much they need to bend.

Thanks, BuzzBD and sequoia. Cutting so many slits in such small wood is a chore, and clicking on "Buy" is so much easier - with better results.
