It's about 100 years old.

It might well be worth $99. Or nothing. Depends how good it sounds.

I'd take a punt if I could try it first.

I played it and tuned it. Harmonics at the 12th fret a good. Plays well. Friction tuners hold in tune and work well.

Still don’t know what kind of wood it is.

It is hard for me to tell much about the wood or instrument as the images load very small on my computer.

I think the wood is maple. Base on the grain, I think it is maple.
