Guitalele or 1/4 scale classical?

1/4 scale guitars have a scale length hardly longer than a instruments marketed as guitaleles. So similar tuning challenges apply.

One difference I found with instruments marketed as 1/4 (or 1/8) scale guitars is that they're really scaled down for small hands. Not only is the scale length cut down, the string spacing and neck width is also scaled down. I've seen 1/8 and 1/4 classical guitars with nut width specs from 39mm to 42mm, from a little over 1.5" to 1.65". Like a narrow-ish steel string. This may compound the cramped feeling one with adult sized hands might encounter. In contrast, a Yamaha GL-1 guitlele has a nut width of 48mm, over 1 7/8".

True. I had the Córdoba C1m 1/4 and it was just under 19" scale with 1.75" nut. I really liked it. My custom Jupiter has similar specs, a smidge wider nut.
