Club Shirts

Raftergirl, that is so cool! Ramille wore her red one yesterday for our first TBUS virtual open mic on zoom.

Congrats on your retirement!

I despise wearing Hawaiian shirts, but I think they look pretty nice on some people. Just not me.

My problem with matching shirts and name tags is that somehow I've developed an irrational aversion to uniformity.

It's not irrational. :D

Our club shirts come in various styles and colors. At every gathering, someone is wearing an Aloha shirt (that's what they call Hawaiian shirts in Hawaii).

These are the choices we have. You can buy one and tell people you got it at our huge uke fest. :D

I am going to buy one Jerry, and just so if people ask I can tell them I know you.

I also have that aversion. I also ask — “Why?”
We don’t play at group events. We don’t perform for others. People just like us to all look alike as we play in our jam.

I wore a freakin’ band uniform in school
I wore a freakin’ button down shirt and tie ‘Uniform’ at work - until restructuring cast me off
I wore a freakin’ company uniform with the utility district I was with for my second career.

Now,

I
Don’t
Wear
Uniforms

No more

Our shirts aren't all the same, and they're just for fun. Before Covid, we met once a week in person. Now it's through Zoom. I doubt we would war the shirts when we play in public or for a group.

Interesting timing seeing this thread as I had, at about the same time this thread was started, sent an email to Andrew Kitakis at HMS asking him about where he gets his ‘The Ukulele Site’ t-shirts printed.

I have started three ‘ukulele clubs/groups (one in the PNW, one in the Southwest, and one in the Midwest of the U.S.) and designed t-shirts for each group; I had two of my group’s t-shirts printed at Vistaprint dot com for a very reasonable price. However, when I was trying to get my t-shirt set up in their system for my third group’s design, I ran into all sorts of technical glitches, no matter the platform I was using. I contacted their Help Desk, all to no avail. I did look into Custom Ink and another company based out of Colorado, but I never marched forward with the order since COVID happened, etc. I am still going to try do it, just need to make it happen.

That all said, I was also mentioning in my email to Andrew that it would be cool to have a centralized local where people could shop for ‘ukulele club/group t-shirts, but I am not sure how to go about that. I know that, here on the UU, the SOTU folks (Seasons of the Ukulele under the ‘Contests’ portion of the forum) have created a Zazzle (I think that what it’s called) online store where you can buy cool SOTU-themed ‘ukulele t-shirts. Maybe something akin to that could be done on with different groups contributing their designs on a Zazzle store, or etsy or something.

Here are my designs for my three groups that I founded and directed (two images are stickers, too, so you can see a better close-up of the design since the t-shirt ones of are rather fuzzy).

Speaking of stickers, yeah, I had those printed up, too, at a really cool place called MakeStickers dot com.

The saying on the South Central Iowa Strummers’ design is a play on words of the state’s motto which is ‘Fields of Opportunities.’
