Okay, I'm actually a bit previous as the Ukulele wasn't actually delivered yet :p but I have a photo of it and it's on the way so I'll post more as soon as it gets here in a couple of days. Too excited!

This is made by a smaller Luthier in the UK - It is a Tenor with Cedar of Lebanon top, Sweet Chesnut back and sides, Beech neck/rosette/binding and a Boxwood fretboard/bridge. The saddle/nut are bone from his local butcher. Finish is Oil/Wax.

I wanted something fairly light and "unique" looking, so it kinda looks like it was made to order rather than the same you woods can buy off the shelf.

Like I say, I can't comment on the sound or anything else yet because, well, I didn't hear it yet, but more photos coming soon and I just want to share my excitement with you guys!

EDIT: It arrived, photos! https://photos.app.goo.gl/E8xMmWTuUdtiWZbL9

...Bombshell. Pretty little thing. Can't wait to hear your review.

Congrats!
Now, that isn't your run of the mill ukulele!

Cedar of Lebanon. You might spend more time sniffing it than playing it!

It is a reasonably uncommon wood to come across but everyone says it smells great yes :D I look forward to seeing it, playing it, and sniffing it

Won't have to worry about moths though. :)

What a relief :D I didn't realise Cedar of Lebanon had so many talents.

Congrats!

I intentionally wanted something a bit different, I mean if it's being made by hand you may as well choose some options you would never get otherwise! Even Cedar of Lebanon seems reasonably uncommon as a soundboard and I've never seen anything in sweet chesnut so it should be interesting for sure :)

Okay, so it's been a couple of weeks and I have some sound samples and impressions.

- The uke is fairly weighty due to the beech neck I think and pretty chunky profile however it is very comfortable to hold and I really don't find it an issue.
- The deep body (78mm at max curve) means it's pretty bassy and the low end from the G is pretty prominent, but it's not too much. I have a soprano in high G when I don't want the bass.
- You can really feel the resonance in the chest and sustain is great.
- It sounds really really great when picked, sweet tone and lots of resonance. It's not quite so nice when strummed very hard as it tends to get a bit muddy (I presume this is due to the deep body, but I'm no expert). For light strumming though and picking it's really a wonderful tone and I love it.

Overall, very happy!

Here are some sound samples - unfortunately it's just a phone mic so you don't get the best idea, and it's my playing (I only started in April!) but I tried a bit of picking, bit of strumming, and a bit of both.
