hi all, i am new to this board. hope someone can help me. I am building a pan uku for my grandson, made it from a nonstick can pan, really looks nice but i can not get any sound from. any help.

As you probably know, it's all about vibration. Strings vibrate, then the sound board (front) responds to the vibration, and the hollow shape of the body amplifies it. Does your pan have some sort of soundboard, or diaphragm, that can be excited by the strings?

Excitement - we all crave it!

Again, photo(s) could be useful, but in the meantime, assuming the base of the pan is being used as the "soundboard", is it open-backed, closed-backed with nowhere for the sound to come out, or closed-backed with a sound-hole or port of some sort?
If any of these three, I'd guess the base of the pan is simply too thick to vibrate well :(
