I have always enjoyed the Key of C using gCEA tuning. Easy to play and easy to finger pick tunes.
The key of A, I find, is great for playing 12 bar blues

Now I’m leaning towards D minor.

There are three songs I’ve learned in that key that I roll from one to the the next

Black Magic Woman
Europa
Classical Gas

The latter 2 I learned from Aldrine’s tutorials.

I am hoping for some suggestions of other similar songs in D minor that I can learn aadd to the mix.
Three song compilation is nice, a five or six song would REALLY sound impressive.

Thanks

Good Vibrations, by the Beach Boys.

'House of the Rising Sun'?
Dm F G Bb
Dm F A A7 etc ...

:music:

Dm is the parallel to F which is a great singing key for most voices. You can transpose pretty much any song into Dm or F and then find out if that improves it for your voice. For instrumentals or solos there may be limitations for easy fingering though.

Thanks to all. Gave me some ideas. Expanded how I thought. I always played St James in Am.
Anyway...
I’m listing
Black Magic woman
Europa
Classical Gas
St James
Good Vibrations
Sway
Greensleeves/ Green stamps
Jolene
Sway
Yesteryou yesterme yesterday
All my loving

Now I just need to arrange the order so it flows
Thanks again

It’s definitely an interesting mix of songs. The idea of playing Greensleeves and Jolene back to back makes me smile. :) Have fun with the compilation!

How about "Alone Together" (Schwartz/Dietz) It is most often played in D minor. :D
A timely tune taking on a new meaning during the current pandemic :p

Here is Ella with Nelson Riddle's orchestra in D minor:

A nice version by Catherine Russell. She sticks really close to the original melody but she sings it in G minor here:

Benny Golson doing a fantastic version here in D minor:

Works better with the song
Green Stamps (aka Greensleeves)
I found my love in a grocery shop
Selling pickles and egg plants and bottles of pop
She asked me to try asparagus tips
And I fell for the smile on her Ruby Red lips
:)

My wife and I watch a BBC series called Shakespeare and Hathaway. It's got a catchy theme in D Minor. It's composed by Debbie Wiseman. She's well known across the pond. Check on YouTube, very easy as well.

D minor? You mean the saddest of all keys?
