back to kala pickups c.f guitar pickups

i'm having trouble with the loudness of my shadow pickup in my kala.
i've had it fixed twice now, its working, but rediculously quiet c.f. my guitar pickup (a home installed cheap job)

my question is this

is this normal or am i having another trip back to the store?

Is this an under-saddle pickup? If so, it sounds like the saddle is not contacting the transducer properly.

yeah it is, didn't really want to go down that road but may have too.
