I bought my first ukulele a couple of weeks ago for my 39th birthday. After a lot of internet window shopping, I finally settled on the Ohana CK-18OM. It's beautiful and sounds lovely and I have zero regrets.

I've never played an instrument before and I know nothing about music, so I really am a complete beginner but I am enjoying what little bit I've worked on during the last few days. My fingertips (and my cats and dog) aren't happy, but my soul is definitely feeling the soothing benefits of music and I'm so happy I decided to go down this path

Welcome to UU, OrcadianSoul.
Your fingertips have accepted the challenge, and in a few weeks they will have won. Your pets might disagree with me, but I'm sure you're making progress.

Hi OrcadianSoul,

Welcome to the Forum. There are lots of great resources you can find online for beginners. From instructional videos, songs, to "how to" YouTube videos and ukulele reviews. Here are just three that I use:
Barry Maz' site with tips, info and uke reviews: www.gotaukulele.com
UU Member Choirguy's: http://ukestuff.info
UU Member Uncle Rod Higuchi's: http://ukulelebootcamp.weebly.com

Great basic music theory for ukulele was written by member Larry Martin. Gives you information about the hows and whys of music: http://www.lakesidepress.com/UkeSyllabus.pdf
