I got my plans scanned, and with the help from a coworker, traced the contour and sound hole center in Rhino. I brought that into Aspire and ran off a 1/4” MDF template.
I can now use the Aspire file to generate forms for the Fox side bender.
The plans provide for either a Spanish heel or dovetail neck attachment. While I’d like to try the Spanish heel at some point, I think I’ll go with the dovetail on the first one. The back represented on the plans has the flat area for neck mounting, so this is the one we used for tracing.
A couple of questions:
Since the file is of the outside contour, should I offset the forms for the side bender by a couple of millimeters to account for material thickness?
Also, should I modify in anyway to account for springback?
