Will Sound Ports Become Standard?

I like the looks, if nothing else, but it does make a difference in what I hear. In one case, I made a sound port in a fluke (I shaped it like a fluke), and I do hear the difference compared with other Flukes.

Mass produced ukes could easily incorporate that port into the construction and give their products more appeal.

I have never played one with a side port but would really like to.

There was a custom Baritone at HMS the other day although it seemed to go almost immediately. Would love to have tried this one especially -

The next step is going to be putting a speaker in that sound hole and making amplification available. :D

I've had two ukes built with side ports. There is no reason to do this unless the wood is odoriferous, like Cocobolo.
(hi, I'm Nickie, and I'm addicted to sniffing my uke)

Now you're on to something. I think my favorite wood smell combination is walnut and cedar!
