I am using a vFan brace pattern and have at last done away with the Brace that I usually fitted below the sound hole. Made for a killer instrument. I need to make more of these non 'floating brace' topped instruments to see if this expansion of the flexive surface of the top is contributing to greater volume and sustain.

I am guessing there should be a link in the above post.

I saw the video when it was available and was intrigued enough to try to duplicate your results. I assume you added a centerline patch to support the center joint on the top as one does on the back centerline joint?

One piece front and back. Also a properly jointed seam needs no reinforcement. BTW - the uke is loud and proud!

I am getting ready to brace a teardrop concert. I always use a doughnut around the sound hole...which probably could replace the lower lateral brace by itself. I plan on using three fans...maybe they could be lighter than one might think?
