Kanile'a SUS-T Tenor - REVIEW

i asked kanile'a.

"It is yellow cedar. We nicknamed it “Rainbow” cedar because of the different, subtle color tones in the grain."

That makes sense I suppose - it certainly does have colours in the stripes
 
On the previous page I was speculating whether it was Alaskan yellow cedar so it seems I was right, it is indeed Cupressus nootkatensis. I dont know if that makes it a cypress rather than cedar but I don't really care. Some cypress can look very different to cedar regarding their pattern. The top on the Kanile'a SUS models looks just as much like cedar as on any other proper cedar topped uke I've seen with that straight grain. I love mine, and whether it's cedar or cypress isn't going to change ghat.
