Strung with Aquila Red Banjolele Strings
8 inch pot
Animal skin head (not sure what type)
Action and frets adjusted/leveled by professional luthier
Tuners tightened by professional luthier
Slingerland label on truss rod
Monarch label on headstock
Faded writing under banjo head "Loan Instrument No 26. E.K. Hood"

Henry Slingerland won ownership of the Chicago Correspondence of School of Music in a riverboat poker game in 1912 and the Slingerland brand became known for manufacturing quality American made drums and banjos. Slingerland manufactured instruments for several brands and for students of the Chicago Correspondence School of Music. This is one of the first batch of instruments manufactured for that school (#26).

A "Monarch" branded Slingerland is among the rarest of antique Slingerland banjoleles. The headstock shape with the dip in the middle is a design characteristic of 2nd generation Slingerland banjoleles while the star and diamond shaped mother of pearl inlay(s) of the headstock and neck are design characteristics of the first generation of Slingerland banjoleles.

This is a very rare collectible that is also in excellent playing condition with a signature plunky banjolele sound. Selling due to neck being too small for my hands. Great looking antique / vintage piece for a collector or a serious player with smaller hands.

Comes with padded all black Hohner Music Gig Bag.

Pricing at $400 obo + shipping. This may shift as I continue to do research. Open to offers for trade ‐ concert banjolele or cedar uke.
