A few days delayed, but I just received my new harp ukulele from Emerald Guitars. Having never played a harp uke prior to this, it's a different experience for sure. Not only different in the way it's played, but sound and feel/vibrations are completely different than a standard ukulele. For this instrument I chose some lightly flamed royal ebony for the top veneer, and requested a custom green burst with with green carbon fiber back and sides. It turned out absolutely gorgeous, and the finish is flawless. The sound from these is huge! It's not my choice for strumming, but sounds incredible when fingerpicking. From the factory, the action does seem a bit high, but the intonation is spot on, and every note rings loud. The only other issue I had was the plastic beads that are used for the bridge. I put some uke logic soft tension strings on, and the following day, two of the beads somehow broke, and left me without a way to put the strings back on. I ordered a pack of 100 4mm steel beads for $9 on Amazon, and problem solved, back to loving the instrument!! That is part of why it took me extra time to post some good photos. Anyways, I am really loving this instrument and playing it is a different experience than playing my other ukes. I look forward to exploring the possibilities with my new toy!

Really nice. The Harp strings, look like low E on a guitar? Cant wait for you to post a video with a song. Really nice, enjoy.

that is something else!

Very impressive. Enjoy it.

Very very nice. I really like string beads, when I need to change uke strings, I add beads. How much was your harp uke? I saw a Bruce Wei Arts solid mahogany harp uke on eBay the other day for $1505 including shipping.

These, in basic all carbon fiber w/o pickup, are $1,775, w/ pickup $1,950. I paid more for the veneer as well, but they did a satin neck for free. I also use bridge beads on many ukes, but this is a totally different style bridge. Beads are required to make this bridge work. It's OK, but the plastic beads didn't cut it for me.
