I'm trying to decide what to do with my license plate ukulele. It plays somewhat decently, but I'd like it to sound better.

There is still a bit of buzzing from the license plate. At least I think that's what's going on. The action is too high because the neck is angled up slightly. I think I'll slice it off the body and cut an angle into it

I could cut it off close to the body and sand the remainder off the body. It's attached with two dowels, glue, and a screw. Getting the angle right is the first step. Then I can see how it sounds and do something with the license plate, if necessary. I have about $12 invested in this, so I can take chances. ;)

The old saying in most design departments, “If you can’t make it work, make it look good.” ;)

Right! Looking good is what attracts me to a uke in the first place. Then I check it out. I'm a sucker for something unusual.

Somewhat related - Apple pays its designers more than it pays its engineers. Form over function. :)
