Hey guys,
I am fairly new here. I am still learning my first chords and strumming patterns.
I have just watched this video and the 5 strumming patterns.
https://youtu.be/gAScCO3Mb-w
I know he has new videos that are less "painly"...I mean this video is slow as eff, but it is perfect for a newbie like me.
So, the patterns are:
1, down, down, down, down (01:31)
2,down up, down up, down up, down up (02:58)
3, down, down up, down, down up (04:22)
4, down up, down, down up, down (05:22)
5, down, down up, up, down up (06:37) - calypso
I understand that these patterns are there for us to experiment with, but can anyone recommend songs that are popular (so that I'd have an anchor point/comparison to work with) and recommend which strumming patterns they sound good with (I am darn sure that some might be used with more than one pattern too).
I am really into jazz, crooners' songs...but as a newbie those might be too much to start with. So, simple thing will do too.
Thank you very much.
UPDATE: Well, I have just fallen in love with this song/video (https://youtu.be/jR7FAlyJvJc)
This song doesn't follow any of the above mentioned strumming patterns, but it feels like it is doable. I used to sing it in the office to annoy my Italian colleague (who hates it for some reason :biglaugh: )
