    Default banjo-cavaco

    Not a banjo, not a banjolele but a banjo-cavaco
(I suppose a hybrid of a cavaquinho and a banjo)

    That was great!
How does a banjo-cavaco differ from a banjolele? Steel strings? Tuning?

The cavaquinho is a small Portuguese instrument with
four wire or gut strings. The Brazilian cavaquinho is slightly
larger than the Portuguese cavaquinho. The Brazilian cavaco,
a smaller version, is simiar in size to the Portuguese cavaquinho.
The standard tuning in Brazil is DGBD.
Other tunings include DGBE (used for solo parts),
    gCEA (same as soprano ukulele),
DGBE (same as the highest four strings of the guitar),
    and the mandolin tuning (GDAE).

I would say strings are metal (although they look nylon) because
a pick is used and to my ears they sound metal. As for the tuning
my guess is either DGBD or DGBE.

The cavaco is very much used in Brazilian samba and choro music.
The piece played in the cavaco-banjo video is choro music.

    She plays a cavaco
